Mahesh, Mani Ratnam’s big-budget shelved?

A strong gossip is making round in the Chennai film circles that Mani Ratnam’s dream project Ponniyin Selvan is called-off. It is also heard that the filmmakers have also informed Vijay, Mahesh Babu, Arya, and Anushka to de-freeze, their dates given for Ponniyin Selvan.

Mahesh was quite happy signing this bilingual with the ace director Mani Ratnam.

However, this historical project is called-off due to its over-budget of approximately 100 Crores. Producers and the corporate houses are not ready to risk on the film in the current situations. Also, the movie doesn’t offer any commercial elements and Mani Ratnam’s previous outing Raavan resulting as disaster is making the producers think twice. As of now, the movie has been shelved.

The project will kick-start, if any of the producers or the corporate houses are willing to invest an amount of 100 crores.

It is well-aware that Tollywood’s Prince Mahesh Babu has accepted a new film with Ace director Mani Ratnam which is a multi-starrer flick.  The latest update regarding this multi-crore project is the film has been titled as Veerudu in the Telugu version.

Being made based on a novel, Mahesh will be seen in the title role of the film as a King and the movie will roll onto the floors in the month of October. Mani Ratnam is said to be busy scouting the locales for the film. Kollywood actors Vijay and Arya are playing the other lead roles in the film and Anushka is zeroed in to pair up with Vijay. Mani Ratnam is yet to confirm the other two heroines for Mahesh and Arya. Besides this AR Rahman the lucky mascot of Mani is going to score the tunes for the Veerudu.

Ever since Telugu media reported news on Mahesh Babu accepted second fiddle role in Mani Ratnam's movie, Prince Fans are going furious. As Vijay is the main hero and Anushka is heroine, importance for Mahesh Babu in the film will be seemingly lost. If Mani Ratnam is insisting Mahesh Babu only to sell the Telugu version fancily, there is no necessity for charming hero to accept the offer. As per the Film Nagar grapevine, after a long analysis of situation Mahesh Babu is known to have striked the deal to accept 'Ponniyin Selvan', if film is to be made into two parts. If first part will focus on heroism of Vijay, second distinctly needs to concentrate on Mahesh Babu's heroics as a warrior. Ram Gopal Varma followed the same technique for Rakta Charitra series. First part was dominated by Vivek Oberoi while second belonged to Suriya alone. This is Mahesh Babu's bumper offer for Mani Ratnam. Let us see what happens.

Mahesh Babu is 'Aditya Karikalan'

‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is the only topic discussed every where in mahesh babu Fans circles these days in our state. Reason is obviously Maniratnam’s next film with mahesh babu is based on this pure historical Tamil novel dealing with Chola kingdom. As per latest report, story will revolve mainly around Vandiyathevan, a charming adventure loving young man and Aditya Karikalan, Arulmozhi; both of them being Princes of Chola dynasty. The conspiracy of Pandyas to conquer Chola kingdom is secretly known by Vandiyathevan who sets on a journey to pass the message to Aditya Karikalan in Kanchi and Arulmozhi in Sri Lanka. On the other side love story and bravery of Aditya Karikalan will be dealt in separate. Obviously Vandiyathevan will be the main hero while heroic brothers Aditya Karikalan and Arulmozhi are side heroes. Maniratnam already offered the main role to Vijay and it is Aditya Karikala for mahesh babu.  One doesn’t know why mahesh babu rejected bumper offer like ‘3 Idiots’ remake with Shankar on the just reason of missing Telugu star cast and now how did he accept this second fiddle role from Mani which is filled with A to Z Tamil flavor.

It is well aware that Mahesh Babu has signed up a new film with ace director Mani Ratnam and the movie is being made bilingually in Telugu and Tamil versions. Mahesh is donning the role of a King in the film. The Tollywood’s Prince is turning out as King Uththama Cholan for the film.

The latest reports say Mahesh will go topless for the film and will appear in Dhotis. Still, it is to be seen whether Mani will stop his count with this five or still increase it matching the levels of budget equivalent with high star cast. Prince Mahesh Babu has teamed up with country’s proudest director Mani Ratnam for a historical film. Mahesh has met the director on Sunday at Chennai for listening to the script. The Tollywood princehas liked the script and has immediately signed up the venture.
The movie is said to be a highest budgeted flick, which will be made bilingually in Tamil and Telugu. Hero Vikram is also the part of this project. The story is based on the famous Tamil historical novel Ponnian Selvam. It deals with the fortunes of the Chola Empire during the 10th century. The novel comprises of five parts in which Mani Ratnam picked eighty scenes to weave into an entertainer.
Revealing the news through twitter Mahesh tweets, "My dream is coming true finally. I will be working in a Maniratnam film. One of the happiest days of my life."

Dhookudu's satellite rights sold for around Rs. 5.75

Calling Mahesh Babu's Dhookudu as one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year would be a cliche. His appeal at box office hasn't diminished at all and the distributors would vouch for that. We hear that the satellite rights of the film have already been sold for a whopping sum even before the film's shooting is completed. Maa TV has bought the rights for a sum of around Rs 5.75. Recently, Maa TV had launched a new channel Maa Movies and they are aggresively trying to add big titles to their movie library.
Directed by Srinu Vaitla, Dhookudu has Mahesh Babu and Samantha in lead roles. The film has already been shot in Turkey, Dubai and recently a song & another scene were shot in Kutch, Gujarat. The next schedule of the film will begin from February 15 in Hyderabad and will end on March 3. Some talkie part will be shot in this schedule. Achanta Gopichand, Anil Sunkara and Achanta Ram are producing the film under 14 Reels Entertainment banner. Thaman is composing the music. Ever since the debut of shruthi hasan with ‘Anaganaga O Dheerudu’ mattered for Telugu audience, her name is revolving around the big stars. We had earlier informed that Prince Mahesh and dashing director Puri Jagannath has teamed up once again after giving a blockbuster hit Pokiri. Now, the latest news is the film has been titled as titled as The Business Man with a tag lineGuns Don’t Need Agreements.

The Business Man is all set to hit the floors in the month of May which will be produced by Venkat under the banner RR Movie Makers.

Producer Venkat says, “Puri has brought special craze on the film by giving a fantastic tag line Guns Don’t Need Agreements. The Business Man will become biggest blockbuster for Mahesh and creates wonders in Telugu Film Industry.”
