Speedster 2011 Porsche 911 First drive

It’s unusual. It’s fast. It’s costly. Meet the 2011 Porsche 911 Speedster. First shown in October at the Paris Auto Show, the $204,400 humpbacked 911 arrives at U.S. dealerships early next year.On paper, the rear-wheel-drive 911 Speedster appears to be a heavily optioned 911 GTS Cabriolet, albeit one with a bubbled tonneau cover. Having just driven the new GTS with the 408-horsepower 3.8-liter flat-six and Turbo-width rear track, we knew going into this drive that the uprated equipment makes a good foundation for the Speedster. Building on the GTS’ enhanced mechanicals, the Speedster also gets the seven-speed PDK dual clutch, Sport Chrono Plus, Porsche Active Suspension Management and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes. Take it or leave it, this is the only way the Speedster comes.

But so much for on-paper specs. To find out what the 911 Speedster is like on the road, we headed to Palm Springs, California for a mid-winter desert blast.Great roads are a dime a dozen around Palm Springs. Finding one is so simple even a bell ringer could do it; aim car toward mountains, hit gas. Drive far enough and you’ll find an empty, sinewy strip of blacktop where you can play Grown Up Hot Wheels. After being docile in traffic, the 911 Speedster eagerly becomes a full-size road toy when let loose.Considering what’s hanging over the rear axle, dropping the throttle rockets the 911 forward with authority. Porsche states a minimum 0-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds, and with launch control and Sport Plus engaged and the brake pedal side-stepped, acceleration is both ferocious and efficient. Electronics limit wheel spin to the optimal percentage, ensuring explosive takeoffs for even Christmas tree newbies.

2012 Mercedes C-Class facelift disclosed

The 2011 Mercedes C-Class has disclosed to the web in the lead of its first public apperance at North American International Auto Show.

Appoint to recapture the entry-level luxury spotlight, the updated model features a new front fascia, an aluminum hood, and restyled headlights. Out back, changes are relatively minor but include a revised bumper and LED tail lights.
While the exterior tweaks are somewhat questionable, the interior has been completely revamped to mimic the E-Class. Notable changes include a new dashboard, a revised steering wheel (from the CLS), updated controls, and a redesigned instrument cluster. Furthermore, thanks to a generous helping of aluminum (or wood) trim, the cabin no longer is a sea of black plastic.
In the tech department, there are five new driver assistance options (Attention Assist, Adaptive Highbeam Assist, Park Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind Spot Assist) and an updated COMAND system.

Under the hood, three engines will be available in the United States. The big news is the addition of a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder with 201 hp (204 PS / 150kW) and 229 lb-ft (310 Nm) of torque. It enables the sedan to accelerate from 0-60 mpg in 7.1 seconds and return a combined 24 mpg. Alternatively, the C350 adopts the new 3.5-liter V6 which churns out 302 hp (225 kW / 306 PS) and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque.

The facelifted C-Class will be launched in Europe next month and US sales are scheduled for the summer.

BMW X1 Price in India, BMW X1 Features & Specifications

The BMW X1 is an SUV-like model. It measures 4.45 m, is 19 cm shorter than the current BMW X3 (model 2011). It is on sale since September 2009 with all-wheel drive versions (called xDrive) or back ('sDrive).

SUV ratios have except for his height, 1.55 m, very close to the body of some family cars. It has no gearbox or other features that allow its use in rough terrain, so its use is focused mainly on road (especially rear-drive versions), where the outcome is good.

The X1 RWD Diesel stand out as having very low power consumption, according to official data. Today is the SUV of similar characteristics that consume less. In the Technical Information section there are details on the engines.

Like other brand models, the X1 also conveys a great sense of strength, for example when driving on a bumpy road. In general, the carrier coating materials and the fit between parts are good, but have details for improvement; there are pieces that seem cheap. In this sense, gives the impression that the X1 is more like a 1 Series than a 3 Series. This model does not look or feel of many BMW models of similar price a few years ago (eg the 3 Series, 1999).

Equipment

Some options available for the BMW X1 are: browser, sport seats, a panoramic glass roof, longitudinal bars in the ceiling and a rear camera for easy maneuvering. You can not have rear side airbags and knees.

Other information

Anticipated BMW design with the BMW Concept X1, this prototype has a very striking especially in the front, reminiscent of BMW 7 Series.
